Here is new york will be exhibiting our photographs in Washington DC in the next few months. In preparation for this exhibit, we are requesting submissions from local residents. Like New York, Washington was directly affected on 9/11, to promote healing, community and understanding, we have been extending our mission beyond new york.

If we have learned anything about the tragedy of 9.11, it is that no community is immune from the rashness of indifference and the violence of deprivation. Understanding our own vulnerability and that of others, may be the common denominator for a new sense of responsibility to our fellow man.

Some revelations may be found in the pictures that we take--those images that document our encounters with each other as we travel the fragile ground of cultures poised for conflict.

Who are we today? What are the signs and symbols of tolerance and intolerance? The Family of Man is no longer the view of the professional. Anyone and everyone has something to relate in pictures. That seen and then exposed cannot be hidden from conscience.

If one photograph tells a story, thousands of photographs tell not only thousands of stories but also perhaps begin to tell the story if they are allowed to speak for themselves, to each other, and to the viewer directly, unframed by glass, metal, or wood or by preconception or editorial comment.

In submitting your photographs, you are helping to define something new yet without a specific subject, incident, or focus. Though there are some things we have learned that might help in reframing the future view of our world:
